Why this may already concern you
The European Accessibility Act has applied since 28 June 2025. It covers online commerce, banking services, transport and e-books among others, with exemptions for micro-enterprises. We will not tell you whether you are covered, as that depends on your activity and your size. But the fifteen points below are where everyone starts, and none of them requires rebuilding the site.
What this test does not say
It reads the HTML as served, and nothing else. Colour contrast requires resolving the stylesheets and computing a luminance ratio; real tab order, focus visibility and keyboard traps require an actual browser and an actual hand. We do not approximate them: a contrast approximation errs in both directions, and an “all clear” on that point would be worth less than nothing. One more limit, the same as for our other audits: a page whose content is built by JavaScript after loading will look almost empty to us.

Because it cannot be read from the HTML. You have to resolve every stylesheet, work out which rule wins on which element, then compute a luminance ratio. An approximation would err in both directions, and wrongly telling you “contrast is fine” would be worse than saying nothing.
Am I required to make my site accessible?
It depends on your activity and your size. Since June 2025 the European Accessibility Act has covered online commerce, banking, transport and a few other sectors, with exemptions for micro-enterprises. We do not rule on your case: we show you what can be fixed, obligation or not.
My site is built in React, is the test valid?
Only if your pages are rendered server-side. We read the HTML as the server sends it, the way a search engine does: if your content is built in the browser after loading, it will look almost empty to us and the grade will mean nothing. Which is a problem in its own right.
Is it really free?
